If I'm Alone In This, Then So Be It.

Well, Kate at Small Dead Animals is now linking to Fjordman. Fjordman has finally decided that he's just going to tell everyone that being an ally with Neo Nazis means nothing as it relates the greater "good". If being a conservative means a complete and utter revokation of my core values as a human being, then I am no longer a conservative.

I said my piece earlier. I'll restate it now: I will not ally or associate with Neo Nazis. Explaining myself further would be a waste of time.

What I will say is that I've been struggling with this for quite some time. It was becoming apparent that I was not a modern conservative, because the modern conservative movement is becoming nothing but a refuge for luddites and the religious. There is no place for an atheist who is a big fan of science. There is no place for rational discourse. There can't be when the best conservative blog of last year tacitly approves Fjordman's stance.

So, have fun, modern conservative movement. I'm done with you. You can couch your hatred for the mystical "other" in terms of national defense, but you and I know that's nothing but a smokescreen for your hate.

So, where does an atheist who dislikes big government and high taxes go?
