Supporting Israel Should Be A No Brainer

I have acquaintances online who have no problem at all with supporting Hamas, Fatah and Hezbollah in their quest to eradicate Israel. What I find interesting is that even our versions of what actually led up to where we are is entirely different. That means, I am right, they are right or we both are wrong.

The problem for me is that even if I am wrong from everything since the creation of Israel to who started the current unpleasantness, I'm unable to support the Palestinians. When I have issues like this, I look around at who is on my side of the fence. The major group that gives me pause are the apoconuts, or fundamentalist Christians who see the creation of the state of Israel as a sign from God that Jesus is returning.

You guys can keep Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul. I'll take Steyn. When you strip away the propaganda from both sides, and there is a bunch of it, the driving force of the Palestinians is the eradication of Jews. That should be enough for any good liberal to stand with Israel. Oddly, they defend the mysogynistic, homophobic, religious fundamentalist Palestinian leadership.

I'd like to think that they don't know what the Palestinian leaders want, that way those folks could just be ignorant and be taught. I don't know why the left is such a bunch of willing useful idiots. If you put them in a room together, they congratulate themselves about how enlightened they are about the atrocities Israel commits and how hard the Palestinians have it. Insertion of facts into the mix simply do not fly. They know of intefadas, they don't know why. They know of occupied territories, they don't know that the ones being discussed are actually Jordan, because the land designated as "Palestine" became part of Israel after the first failed attempt to drive the Jews into the sea. They plug their ears when reminded that Palestine has refused the two state solution and broken every single cease fire.

To recap: if you support Hamas/Hezb'allah/Fatah, then you overtly support the eradication of Israel. There isn't a middle ground and the leaders are quite open about it. The people having rallies in support of Palestine are also quite open about it. So, why do peope support genocidal maniacs? No idea, but they do.
