I Suppose I Have To Defend This

Every time this comes up, I come out against it. I don't like Senate stuffing. Didn't like it when Mulroney did it to ram the GST through, and I didn't like it when his successors did it. So, I am not pleased that Harper is doing this now. I'm now, and will be next year, a proponent of a Triple E senate.

As far as I am aware, the wheels were in motion to make the senate EEE without some stupid constitutional convention. Here in Saskatchewan, we have begun the process. It's all going forward. The pluses to an equal, elected and effective senate are manifold. The first being that it begins to remove power from the PMO. My other favorite is that this begins our path to a proper Republic.

However, thanks to the Liberals and their rumored deal with the Bloc, all that has to be put on hold. I would prefer that it doesn't go down like this, but to permamently ensconse a bunch of traitors in the upper house smacks of treason. If this is a way to stop it, then let's stop it.
